Edward Cumberlidge 1878-1958 

Chief Stoker 312280 Royal Navy

Edward Cumberlidge was born on 10 May 1878 in Walcote, Lutterworth in Leicestershire, England. He was the son of Thomas Cumberlidge and his wife Ruth nee Everton. After a short period as a bricklayer's labourer and carman Edward became a career sailor in the Royal Navy. Between 28 October 1907 and 27 October 1928 he served as a stoker on numerous ships. He rose to become Chief Stoker 312280 in the Royal Navy.

Edward married Eleanor Annie Cook on 2 August 1908 in St Stephen's Church, Hounslow, London, England. They had a daughter Florence Eileen Cumberlidge born 1912. Eleanor Annie Cumberlidge died as a result of childbirth in 1912.

Edward married Harriet Ann Wright in 1919.

In 1939, aged 61, he was a Fitter's Mate on HMS Kestrel. Edward died in 1958 and his second wife Harriet Ann Cumberlidge died in 1973.
