Charles Cumberbatch Private 16775 GS/21531 2nd Dragoon Guards
Charles was born in 1894 in Brownlow, Astbury, Cheshire. He was the son of Charles Cumberbatch and his wife Sarah Hannah nee Deeming and brother to Arthur Cumberbatch. At the outbreak of World War One he was a waggoner on his parents' farm.
He joined the army as Private 16775 GS/21531 in the 2nd Dragoon Guards. He was awarded the Victory and British War medals after being discharged to the reserves on 3 February 1919.
Charles married May Critchlow on 6 February 1916 in St Stephens Church, Congleton, Cheshire, England and they had three children.
Charles died in 1947 in Cheshire, England.
