Diagnosis Hammer toes both feet 31 days in hospital [Hammer toes – toes that are bent permanently downwards]

Present condition: Hospital List unable to walk for any distance. Can walk about two miles in comfort.

OPINION OF THE MEDICAL BOARD

Cardiac hypertrophy and contracted toes [Cardiac hypertrophy is a thickening of the heart muscle (myocardium) which results in a decrease in size of the chamber of the heart, including the left and right ventricles. A common cause of cardiac hypertrophy is high blood pressure (hypertension) and heart valve stenosis.]

Heart  Nex? Birsmollection under 6th rib a mitral systolic is heard at open ___ down disappears on maudency up. Pulse 96 regular. Exercise Tolerance. Fair.

Lump Normal. All toes of both feet contracted, he walks on his heels.

Aggravated by Service during the present war

The Board are of opinion that the Contraction of the toes was aggravated by exposure in the trenches.

Length of present degree of disability: 12 months

Contracted toes & Cardiac Hypertrophy 30% (Thirty)
