- In the name of godd amen. The tenth daye of January in the yeare of our Lorde god One thousand six hundred twenty & six.
I John Cumberbatche th[e] elder of Odd Rode in the county of Chester Yeoman being sicke in bodye but of good & p[er]fecte memory thankes bee to godd therefore, do make this my last will and testamt in manner & fourme following.
First I give and bequeath my soule unto Allmightye god my creator and maker & to Jesus Christ my redeemer & saviour throughe whose pretious aloud? sheeding & tender merryt I hope ^and trust^ to obtayne forgiveness of all myne innumerable sinnes & offences. And my bodye to bee buryed in the church or church yarde of Astbury as it shall please god to appoynte.
It. I give and bequeath to Raffe Cumberbatche my elldest sonne all my husbandry ware too great tables in the oulde house in full dischardge of his chyldes p[ar]te and porcion.
It. I give and bequeath unto Ellen Twemblower my elldest daughter xijd in full dischardge of her childes pte & porcion.
It. I give and bequeath to Margarett Cartwright my second daughter xijd in full dischardge of her childes pte & porcion.
It. I give and bequeath to Anne Lowndes my youngest daughter xijd in full dischardge of her childes pte & porcion.
It. I give and bequeath all the rest of my goodes unbequeathed of what kynde quality or condicon moovable or unmooveable or whatsoever to mee belonginge to my twoo younger sonnes John Cumberbatche and Richard Cumberbatche equallye betwixt them.
It. I ordaine & make the said John and Richard my true & lawfull executors to execute this my last will & testamt according to the trust I repose in them.
In witness wheareof hearunto I the testator have sette my hand this the daye & yeare first above written.

A true and Lawfull Inventorie made the xij daye of Februarie in the seccond yeares of the Kynge of our souerrwyng Lorde Charles by the grace of god Kyng of England Scottland France and Ireland Kynge Defender of the fayth 1626 of all the goods and Cattell of John Cumberbatch of Od Rode deceased seene and p[rai]sed by John Hankcok and Raph Cartwryght and Raph Cumberbach and John Cartwryght...the sum is foure score pounds and xix pounds thrie shillings.
