Hubert Cumberbirch 1886-1975 Private 472422 Labour Corps

Hubert Cumberbirch was born on 18 May 1886 in Normanton, Yorkshire, England. He was the youngest son of John Cumberbirch and his wife Eliza Catherine nee Bond. By 1911 he was studying for Holy Orders.

Hubert and Kate Cumberbirch travelled to York House, Normanton, Yorkshire aboard the RMS Cameronia arriving at Liverpool on 20 October 1915. Hubert Cumberbirch was a teacher aged 29 and Kate Cumberbirch was a Housewife aged  28.

Hubert joined the army as Gunner 307546 in the Royal Garrison Artillery but by the end of his engagement he was Private 472422 in the Labour Corps. 

Hubert died 24 July 1975 at Sandringham Private Hospital, Victoria, British Columbia, Canada and he was cremated 28 July 1975 at Royal Oak Crematorium, Saanich, Vancouver Island, Victoria, British Columbia, Canada. Kate died 3 November 1977 at Sandringham Private Hospital, Victoria, British Columbia, Canada and was cremated 8 November 1977 at Royal Oak Crematorium, Saanich, Vancouver Island, Victoria, British Columbia, Canada.
