Stanley Lloyd Wynne Roberts 1900-1980

Stanley was born 24th May 1900 at 7 Pearcefield Avenue, Forest Hill, Sydenham, London, England. He was the son of Lloyd Wynne Roberts and Rose Emma nee Hutchings.

Aged 17 and a baker’s assistant he enlisted in the Royal Marines Light Infantry on 22nd June 1917 becoming Private PO/20138.

Stanley was described as being 5 feet 6 inches in height, of fresh complexion, with grey eyes, dark brown hair and with a scar on his left leg.

From 7th October 1817 to 20 October 1919 he served aboard HMS Glory.

Between 21 October 1919 and 15 January 1920 he served aboard the HMS Queen. However, during this tour he deserted and this would ultimately cost him his WW1 British War and Victory medals.

Stanley married Emma Daley in 1925 but she died shortly after giving birth to their daughter Rose A Roberts in 1927.

Stanley married Florence Ethel Violet Berry on 30th August 1930 at the register Office, Islington, London. They had three daughters one of which was Winifred Veve Roberts who was born 19 Jan 1932. Stanley died in 1980 in Carnarvon, Caernarvonshire, Wales.
