George William Cumberlidge 1887-1969
Sergeant 58956 Northumberland Fusiliers
George William Cumberlidge was born 18 June 1887 in Burslem, Staffordshire, England. He was the son of William Myatt Cumberlidge and his wife Emma nee Herbert. In 1901 he was an apprentice to a letterpress printer but by 1911 he was a coal miner.
In 1907 he married Elsie Isabel Smart and they had a daughter called Phyllis Dorothy Cumberlidge born in 1907.
He joined the army and became Sergeant 58956 in the Northumberland Fusiliers.
In 1939 he was a chargeman working in the pottery industry and he seems to have been living apart from his wife. He may have married Emily Bailey in 1956. She was living with him in 1939.
He died in 1969.
