Leslie Norman Cumberlidge 1896-1958

Leslie Norman Cumberlidge was born on 29 January 1896. He was the eldest son of Frederick Cumberlidge and his wife Marie Jeanette nee Wall. He enlisted on 3 November 1914 and served as Private 240879 in the Royal Warwickshire Regiment. He was discharged due to his wounds on 14 June 1918 and he had served overseas. He was entitled to the Victory and British War Medals and to the Silver War Badge number 386,835.

After the war Leslie Norman marred Marion Edwards in 1921. Together they had three children:

  • John F Cumberlidge born 1922
  • Marie J Cumberlidge born 1923
  • Frank N Cumberlidge born 1933

Leslie became a Preventive Officer in HM Customs and Excise in 1922 and his appointment was mentioned in the London Gazette:
