Arthur Edward Cumberpatch was born in Nottingham, Nottinghamshire, England about September 1899. He was baptised at St Paul's Church, Nottingham on 1 November 1899. Aged 18 months he was living in the Workhouse, Beech Avenue, Nottingham with his brother John Cumberpatch. He was a member of 2nd Nottingham Company Boys' Brigade (Dakeyne Street Lads' Club). He enlisted in the army and became Private 15930 51 Grad. Battalion of the Leicester Regiment and later Private 52041 in the 8th Battalion Lincolnshire Regiment. He was killed in action aged 19 in France on 29 Oct 1918. He is buried at the Beaurains British Cemetery, in Grave B.1. Beaurains, France.
