Kenneth McKay Cumberledge was born on 27 September 1893 in St Austell in Cornwall, England. He was the youngest son of John Augustus Cumberledge and his wife Mary Saxby nee McKay.
He joined the Royal navy as Acting Electrical Artificer 4th Class M22510 on 2 Aug 1916 for the duration of the war. He was awarded the British War Medal. He was a motor mechanic by 1939.
Kenneth married Jessie Pendlebury in 1956. He died in 1982.
